Rugged Rugs

Finally finished another two upcycling projects from old T-shirts. This is a trial actually but I'm glad that it was easy to make but it did take  longer time than the other projects. Now, I've got rugs according to my desirable colours. I need to put extra colour for the other rug behind as I can see it's not really outstanding with just two combination of colours. I think three is just the right mix.

I made use of the two colours from the Tshirt for two different rugs. However, I do feel the first rug (back) need to be added with another colour to make it appear better.

Sew: A needle pulling thread.

I am beginning to love sewing again. So, I decided to upcycle this perfume box into a usable sewing box. It's one of my favourite and satisfying projects so far.

 Felt is pasted below the lid to give it the purpose of pinning buttons, etc.

Defining my own Definition

WHY UPCYCLE?

Upcycle is a word that is being used as a noun and as a verb that reforms the whole meaning of recycling. It is more of RECYCLE WITH A STYLE which transforms an ordinary USED item into another USABLE item. In my opinion it is an art, a technique that only some people has the talent in interpreting the items they see around them. For most, the THRASH in their eyes is actually a TREASURE in the UPCYCLER’s eyes. 

The pen holder is upcycled from 5 pieces of cassette boxes. I put felt at the bottom and there you are a pen holder. Cassette boxes turned to pen holder.

These two items are just simple plastic container and a cotton bud plastic box that i upcycled into these lovely trinkets.

Upcycling as a hobby.

Starting this October, i'm beginning to take up a new hobby, upcycling materials from recycled items. So far, it gives me the satisfaction to have finished the product beautifully wrapped as in the picture.
